With the passing of St. Patrick’s day I began to reflect on the ‘Pot of Gold at the end of the Rainbow” analogy and how ERP Implementations often times are viewed as ‘needing a little luck’ to get finished. Unfortunately, luck usually isn’t enough. As with most things in business, as in life, there is no substitute for hard work.
Stephen Covey in the “7 Habits of Highly Effective People” defined the 2nd habit as, “Begin with the End in Mind.” There is that ‘Pot of Gold’ again. But, there is no Leprechaun’s magical spell to transport the Implementation to success.
Involving a Consulting Partner early in the process to help define the scope and clearly identifying “The End” while still in the software selection process can pay big dividends in the long run.
Make no mistake, ERP Implementations take work, the rewards can be many and in that work the magic can be found that can transport your organization to greatness. Here’s to finding your “Pot of Gold.”
