Gone are the business applications that were designed to look like paper forms from the 1980s. Gone are the Web pages that resemble huge tabbed index cards— only with more drop-down menus and fields than any sane person would like to fill out in a lifetime of customer service requests. Instead, business software vendor Infor is presenting customers with an interface for all of its applications that looks—and more importantly, behaves—like a modern consumer social network.
In a research note, Peter Goldmacher, an analyst with Cowen and Co., said the company’s “massive investments” in its user interface have served to “materially close the gap between enterprise and consumer software usability.” He added that “Infor is coming to market with the right product at exactly the right time.”
